A **proposal** is one way to do the trip you were asked for: the flights, hotels, transfers and tours, with their price. An inquiry can have several proposals (Option A, Option B…) for the customer to compare.

## Create the proposal

There are three ways in:

- In **Proposals**, press **New proposal**, choose the **Inquiry** and press **Create draft proposal**.
- On the customer's page, press **New proposal**.
- In **Inquiries**, press an inquiry that has no proposals yet.

If you like, set a **Valid until** date: how long you hold the price.

## Add items

In the proposal, press **Add item**.

1. Under **What are you adding?** choose the kind: flight, hotel, transfer, tour, cruise, insurance or other.
2. Start typing in **Name**. Vuela searches your suppliers' catalogs and, when you pick a product, fills in the supplier and cost. If it isn't there, type the name anyway and it's added as a custom item.
3. Fill in the **Supplier**, the **Cost** (what you pay) and the **Price** (what the customer pays). Below, you see the margin in money and as a percentage.
4. Add the dates: **Departs** and **Arrives** for a flight, **Check-in** and **Check-out** for a hotel, **Starts** and **Ends** for the rest.
5. For a hotel, choose the **Meal plan**. On any item, **Detail** holds the cabin class, room type or inclusions.
6. Press **Add to proposal**.

With Google Flights or Google Hotels on, adding a flight or hotel lets you search live and pick a result: it fills in the name, price and dates for you. See [Search flights and hotels](/en/docs/flights-and-hotels/).

Items are grouped by kind (Flights, Hotels, Transfers…). To fix one, press the pencil. To remove it, press the cross.

## Let the customer choose

Sometimes you want to offer two hotels and let the customer decide. Press **Add alternative** on the item and add the other option.

Alternatives show together under **Choose one**. Mark one with **Set as Recommended**: it's the one that counts toward the total until the customer picks another. On their link, the customer taps the option they prefer and the price updates instantly.

> A proposal with choices that have no recommended option isn't ready to send yet. Vuela tells you which ones are missing.

## Several proposals for one inquiry

To compare two different trips, build another proposal. In the proposal, press **Alternative proposal**:

- **Start from** comes set to the proposal you were looking at, so the new one starts as a copy, with the same items, notes and dates;
- to start from scratch, choose **Blank proposal**.

An inquiry's proposals are called Option A, B, C, and appear at the top under **Proposals for this inquiry** so you can switch between them.

## Price and margin

The **Pricing** card always shows:

- the **Customer total** and the **Supplier cost**,
- the **Gross margin**, in money and as a percentage,
- the price **Per traveler**,
- the **Deposit suggestion (30%)**,
- and how many days of validity are left.

The **Customer preview** shows the proposal as the customer will see it. Cost and margin never appear there.

## Statuses

| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| **Draft** | You're building it. The customer can't see it. |
| **Ready** | Finished, but not sent yet. |
| **Sent** | The customer can see it on their link. |
| **Accepted** | The customer said yes. |
| **Rejected** | The customer said no. You can note why. |
| **Archived** | Out of sight, without deleting it. |

The buttons at the top change the status: **Mark as ready**, **Mark as sent**, **Mark accepted**, **Mark rejected** and **Archive**.

In **Proposals**, the **Board** view has a column per status, with proposals grouped by inquiry. Drag a card to change its status.

## Internal notes and history

- **Internal notes**: what the team needs to know about this proposal. The customer never sees it.
- **History**: every change to the proposal, its items, its invoices and its payments, with who made it and when.

## When it expires

Once the **Valid until** date passes, the proposal is **Expired** and the customer can't accept it. Set a new date and press **Extend validity**.
